Standard reentrant GCEA tuning walks up, jumps down, then walks up again: the G is the highest string, the C drops below it, and the E and A climb back up. Tuners that only know one string at a time get confused when you cross strings, and guitar clip-ons often misread the bright upper partials of nylon and fluorocarbon.

Standard ukulele tuning is reentrant: the strings aren't in low-to-high order. The fourth string (G) sits an octave above where you'd expect, which gives the uke its chiming sound. Low G tuning swaps that for a G an octave lower so the four strings run in ascending order, like the top four strings of a guitar.
Both are correct - it's a style choice. Reentrant GCEA is the traditional Hawaiian voice; low G gives you more range for solo arrangements. Neither is harder to tune, but you do need a tuner that knows which G you mean, because mixing up the two octaves is the most common reason a uke "sounds wrong" after tuning.

Nylon and fluorocarbon uke strings run at low tension compared to steel guitar strings, and that affects tuning in two ways.
First, the pitch changes more for a given peg tweak. A quarter-turn that nudges a guitar string by ten cents can move a uke string by thirty or forty, so a tuner that reads in whole-cent steps is too coarse and you overshoot. Is reentrant GCEA the same as low-G tuning?

Can I tune a baritone ukulele with StroboPro?

Why does my ukulele go out of tune so quickly after I string it?
